About the role: • Working alongside the head roaster to assist with the roasting process, providing a unique opportunity to experience and learn the roasting process first-hand, including batch roasting coffee, profiling new coffees and following the roasting schedule • Blending coffee to match flavour profiles • Weighing and roasting coffee as per the daily roast schedule • Use roasting software to log all roasts and manage green bean inventory • Assist in roastery equipment maintenance and general cleaning • Assisting with the production team • Printing product labels and labelling coffee bags • Packaging coffee using semi-automated weighing equipment • Maintain and upkeep a clean safe work environment • Fulfilling orders for postal and local deliveries • Availability to work events including local festivals and food markets etc • Carry out weekly cupping to maintain quality and consistency in the roasting process • Accept green bean deliveries and input inventory onto our system
Skills, Qualities and Experience: • An interest in coffee • Mechanically apt: you will be using weighing, packing machines, pallet truck • Must be enthusiastic to work for a growing, independent business • You will be a team player and happy to get your hands dirty • Able to work independently, multitask and remain calm under pressure • Good time management skills • You will be enthusiastic to learn, ask questions and seek out further responsibility • Kind, positive, with a good work ethic and strong communication skills with the ability to take direction • A drive to achieve and produce high quality products is essential (we’ll support you with this and provide you with all relevant training needed).
This role would suit an individual who is interested in learning about the speciality coffee industry and keen to work for a growing, independent business. This is a physically demanding role requiring consistency, and an eye for attention and detail will be essential. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic to learn, self-motivated and organised.
Experience is not essential as full training will be given.
Occasional weekends may be required.
