Hello all! A little bit about us. We are on the verge of opening a new venue.
It's a small coffee bar / shop on a beautiful leafy street with and amazing garden you'll. need to walk through to get to the coffee shop. It’s a place where you can get all your coffee fix, a place where in we would like to focus on pour over coffee's from a number of different roasters across Europe.
The coffee shop is attached to our wine bar a place where you can come to listen to records and drink fairly priced wine, with a good amount of options by the glass. It’s a sun-drenched (whenever the sun shines) and expansive space with high ceilings, so it makes for a lovely daytime spot too!
As the Head Barista, you will play a pivotal role in creating and leading our coffee program from the start. You’ll be one of the most recognised faces of our place, you’ll be the person that will set our guests’ day off to a great start. You need to be a morning person because you’ll be opening doors on the days that you work. Your expertise in speciality coffee will be instrumental in delivering exceptional coffee experiences to our guests.

Responsibilities:
1. Coffee Program Development: - Take a leading role in developing and implementing our coffee program, including selecting coffee beans, designing the menu, and establishing brewing methods and standards. - Collaborate with the management team to source high-quality, sustainably and ethically sourced coffee beans from reputable suppliers across Europe. - Research and stay updated on emerging trends, techniques, and equipment in the speciality coffee industry to continuously enhance the coffee program.
2. Coffee Preparation and Service: - Prepare and serve coffee beverages to the highest standards, utilising various brewing methods as needed. - Train and educate team members on coffee preparation techniques, including espresso extraction, milk steaming, latte art, and flavour profiles. - Ensure consistency in coffee quality, taste, and presentation, and monitor customer feedback to drive continuous improvement. - Equipment and Inventory Management.
Requirements:
- Pour of coffee enthusiast! - Extensive experience as a professional barista, preferably in speciality coffee establishments. - Strong knowledge of coffee beans, brewing techniques, and espresso machine operations. - Ability to create and lead a coffee program from inception, including menu development, coffee selection, and training protocols. - Passion for sustainability and a commitment to responsible sourcing and waste reduction. - Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with guests and team members. - Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service and create memorable coffee experiences. - Understanding of inventory management and ability to maintain stock levels and control costs. - Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the business.
